Barcelona Supercomputing Center

The main role of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) in ESTiMatE is to act as project coordinator, though it is also responsible for the coordination of the numerical simulations of soot formation conducted by the CFD groups. BSC actively participates in the integration of the soot model with the turbulent combustion models and its efficient implementation on the CFD solvers. The CFD code Alya from BSC is used in the project as a platform for model development and testing, and two turbulent combustion models will be tested with this framework: flamelet-based approach and Conditional Moment Closure. BSC is also involved in the activities on primary breakup of airblast atomizers, and the development of a phenomenological model for reacting spray simulations.
